Gazing at your parents is comparable to worshipping .Looking at the Holy Kaaba is like a prayer. A glance at the face of a scholar is the true essence of supplication.
A person came to meet Huzrut Abu Durda (RA) in Damascus and said “I have come to you from medina munuwara to listen to a hadith. I have come to know that you narrate hadith; there is no other reason of coming here. ”Huzrut Abu durda said, I have heard Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) say, that he who travels in search of knowledge, Allah Almighty sets him on the way to Jannah .Angels spread their wings for the gratification of a student and those in the skies, inhabitants of the earth, the fish in the sea, ask forgiveness from Allah almighty for a scholar. A scholar is grander to a devout person as a full moon is dominant over the stars. Verily scholars are legatee of the prophets (Abu Daud). A person who leaves home to seek knowledge; he is like one who is in the way of Allah till he returns (tirmizi). That you sit in a religious convention for a moment in time in such a way that neither you touch a pen nor write a single letter is better than setting 1000 slaves free. A glance at the face of a scholar is better than dispensing a thousand horses in the way of Allah .Salutation to a scholar is better than praying for a thousand years (Tuzkiratul wazain). Abdullah-bin-Umar (RA) narrates, a man came to Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and asked who is of higher rank; a scholar or a worshiper? The Apostle of Allah replied “Oh man! Angels must be amazed at your query because in the view of Allah almighty, a lazy scholar is superior to a thousand pious men who are diligent, pray the whole night and fast in the day.
